To protect these photodiodes from damage, the Bulk is used. It is necessary to place the photodiodes into Radial, 5mm Dia (T 1 3/4) packages in order to protect them from damage. As long as the photodiodes are operated continuously in reverse-bias mode, the maximum voltage they can tolerate is 100V. A reverse-bias photodiode shouldn't exceed 100V continuously in reverse-bias mode. Despite the absence of light, photodiodes make 2nA current.
